Patricia C. McKissack is the author of Let My People Go, winner of the NAACP Image Award for children's literature, which she wrote with her husband, Fredrick. Her other highly acclaimed books include The Honest-to-Goodness Truth; Ma Dear's Aprons; the 1989 Newbery Honor Book and Coretta Scott King Award winner The Dark-Thirty; and the Caldecott Honor Book and Coretta Scott King Award winner Mirandy and Brother Wind, illustrated by Jerry Pinkney. She lives in Chesterfield, Missouri.
